My first graphic novel!

Antipodes has just published De la Lumière à l'Ombre: Lausanne 1923, a tragi-comic tale in which the stars of traditional Near East shadow theatre, Karagöz and Hacivat, journey to Lausanne in search of wealth and liberation. The artwork is by the Istanbul-based artist Gökce Erverdi, and I co-wrote the text with fellow historians Julia Secklehner and Ozan Ozavci. As a young person I was not really into comics or "bd", so I did not have much experience to draw on. But seeing our script brought to life by such a talented artist has been a wonderful experience. We hope that English, Greek and Turkish-language editions will appear in due course.
